2012 Tournament Field Announced


The CCSU Blue Devils Fall Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State University, will be contested on September 7th - 9th, 2012 at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Connecticut. The tournament will be played as a 36-hole stroke play event and will consist of a practice round on Friday, September 7th; 18-holes on Saturday, September 8th; and 18-holes on Sunday, September 9th. Players dinners will also be held on Friday and Saturday nights for all teams.

Wethersfield Country Club hosted the PGA Tour's Greater Hartford Open from 1952 to 1983. It is the site of Arnold Palmer's first PGA Tour victory, and other past champions include Sam Snead, Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, and Curtis Strange. It is a traditional New England course with great history and tremendous putting surfaces. The early September date is ideal for perfect playing conditions, and the tournament will use the same pin positions that were used by the PGA Tour.

Laval University Wins 2011 CCSU Blue Devils Fall Invitational; Daniel Morgan takes top individual honors in playoff

Laval University of Quebec, Canada shot a two round total of 572 (+2) to capture the 2011 CCSU Blue Devils Fall Invitational, held September 10th - 11th, 2011 at Wethersfield Country Club. Laval, who was the 2010 Canadian National Champions, had 3 players finish in the top 10, including Charles Cote, who lost in a playoff for the individual title. Laval's consistent play was good enough for an ten shot victory over host Central Connecticut State University, who finished the tournament at +12. Sacred Heart University, the University of Rhode Island, and George Washington University rounded out the top 5.

Daniel Morgan of Central Connecticut State University claimed the individual title in a three way playoff over Charles Cote of Laval University and Josh Salah of Sacred Heart University. Morgan used a final round 69 (-2) to vault up the leaderboard, which a string of three straight birdies on the back nine. A par on the third playoff hole would prove enough for a hard-earned victory.
